Our Story
Over 60 years of tradition

The Sagra della Bistecca di Cortona was born in the 1960s as a moment of celebration and community for the people of Cortona. What started as a simple communal dinner has grown over the decades into one of Tuscany's most renowned food festivals.
The undisputed star is always the same: Chianina beef, a prized cut from the native cattle breed of the Valdichiana, cooked rare following the traditional recipe. A simple preparation that respects the raw ingredient and enhances the authentic flavor of the meat.
The grill, over 14 meters long, is the festival's symbol — the largest functioning grill in Italy. Every evening of the event, the master grillers cook hundreds of steaks with the same care and passion as always.
After more than 60 editions, the Sagra della Bistecca remains an unmissable event for locals and visitors from around the world, set in the magnificent Giardini del Parterre, with the Valle di Cortona as a backdrop.
